Back home soon

When we got to San José I went together with Hellen to have dinner with some of her friends. One of her best friends went to Mexico this morning so she wanted to say goodbye to her before she went. After more than three months I still don't understand it when ticos are talking to eachother - or now I almost understand everything but it's still like I miss the points of stories and it might take me twenty minutes talking about one thing before I understand what we are actually talking about.

Anyways, after dinner we went to Fiorellas, another friend of Hellen, and stayed there for about an hour or so talking, and then we went back home to sleep.

Today we woke up late, drove Erick to the universityand and then had a little tour round campus. We then went straight to Fiorella to have lunch with her and her family. They are so incredibly nice and I was so happy because they have the hairiest cat ever, and it actually let me touch it. Almost no cats in Costa Rica are that cuddly and sweet as the cats I'm used to so whenever I meet a cat here that wants to cuddle I can be happy for hours. After a delicious lunch we picked up Erick and went all together to a gold museum in San José. It was actually really cool, and it was fun doing something just me, Erick and Hellen.

Now I'm sitting in the car on the way home to Brasilito. I'm still not placed in any school so I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow. Zumba at nine, and then I'll see what happens. I don't think I will be bored though. I mean hey, the beach is just a short walk away.

San Joseeeee

flamingo, one of the beaches I live really close to.
Going to San Jose now with my hostsister so will tell you more about my new hostfamily when I get back. My weekend in short:

Friday- Went to Playa Conchal alone (Soooooo beautiful)and went out in the evening with my hostsiblings
.
Saturday- Went horsebackriding with my hostsiblings and their friends, it was a big event with a lot of horses and afterwards there was s bull thingy, don't know what it's called.

Sunday- Spent the day with Adrien (my hostsisters son) and then went to Flamingo with Hellen and Eric (my hostsiblings) in the evening. After dinner we went back to have a bondfire.

Second day

My second day in my new family and I feel good. I mean, it's always hard in the beginning, you don't know how the family works, you're a guest in a house full of strangers and you don't really know how to behave or what to do. But now I'm starting to feel a little bit at home, my 24 year old hostsister is really nice and my other hostsister and her family are too. I still haven't met my hostmum or the rest of my seven hostsiblings (only Hellen, the one who is 24 years old lives at home, though Lily lives close and my hostbrother comes home at weekends, the rest live in San Jose I think).

The only thing I don't like about this place is that all of the animals are trying to eat me. The dog bites me, the cat bites me, and the geese run after me to have a bite as soon as I go out of the house. Hahaha, I'm going to be a fast runner after this year (geese run really really fast).

This morning I went running. I ran to the beach in Brasilito, took a walk in the sand and ran back. It is so so so beautiful here.

(should have been posted last week, haven't had any internet)

Earthquake

Had been in my new house for less than one hour when there was another earthquake. Gotta say, probably the best timing ever. This time it was 6,6 so it wasn't as bad as the fifth of september but when you're sitting there and you feel how it starts shaking more and more and more it doesn't matter, you're equally scared. Especially now as I'm living so close to the beach and there might be a tsunami if the earthquake is big enough. Luckely it wasn't this time, but during the earthquake you never know what will happen.

Except for that everything is going well. Just never say what food you don't like that much before you know what's for dinner, hahaha. Awkward.

101

Morning of day 101. Beginning of my new life in my new town, in my new family. Wish me good luck!

(I'm going to miss you Lena so freaking much <3)

~

Tomorrow I will go to my new hostfamily. Yesterday I went with my IEC to meet them and I totally fell in love with the place. I will really be living in paradise, 600 meters from Playa Brasilito and about 5 minutes with car from Playa Flamingo, one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. The family is really nice and I can't wait to get to know them better.

Sooo, I think I'm going to be fine. Now I kind of have to start over since I don't know anyone in Brasilito, but I think and hope it will be easier this time since I actually know some Spanish.

Also I think I'm going to have to buy a new bikini now. : D

Hard to decide

I'm sorry for not updating the blog that much lately, but I've kind of had other things on my mind. Tomorrow I have to decide if I want to go to a hostfamily that lives in a small village really close to the beach or if I want to go to one of the bigger cities in the middle of Costa Rica. No idea what I will choose. I mean the beach is the beach! How nice wouldn't it be to live there? But at the same time I'm so scared of getting bored there because I don't know if there is a lot of things to do in a small fishingvillage.

Gaaah whatshouldidowhatshouldidowhatshouldido???

Weyhoo

If I would be interested in any kind of way in soccer I guess I would be superhappy and superproud right now as apparently (it's hard to miss on facebook) Sweden did something good during a game today and Costa Rica won their game against some other country. Haha here in Costa Rica every single person watches the soccergames, noone is ever out when Costa Rica is playing, it's even worse than when it's raining. For example; today there wasn't even one boy at the dancing class, yesterday they were like seven or eight. People are excited about soccer in Sweden too, but it's not quite the same thing.

Package from Sweden

Friday when I got home from Panama there was a package with 2 kg of chocolate from my parents and a postcard from Hanna waiting for me at home. Made me so incredibly happy! And now I have enough  Swedish chocolate for some weeks. Yaaay! :)

Three months!

Playa flamingo last weekend
Today I've been in Costa Rica for three months. This one last month has gone by so quickly and right now it just feels like the time is starting to run out. I've done more than a fourth of my year. Insane. Crazy. Scary. I don't really know what words I can use to describe it. What I do know is that I love Costa Rica and that my life here is perfect even though I'm going to my third hostfamily soon and even though every day is not the easiest. My exchange year is turning out quite different from what I had expected, but I don't think that's a bad thing. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, kind of.

So todays anniversary was first celebrated yesterday together with the daughters of my IEC and some friends, and later today with sleeping properly for the first time in a week and making pancakes together with Maria-José, Sofia and Tracy. Tonight Bea, Sofia and I will continue celebrating with a slumberparty in Sofias house. Tomorrow there is no school and on tuesday I might go to San José to get to know a possible host family. I will see what happens.

Sleepover in Barra Honda

Went to Sofias house in Barra Honda yesterday together with her and some of her friends. We ate traditional costa rican party food - tortillachips with mixed beans and tuna, and bbq meat on tortillabread, we watched a movie and woke up at 6 this morning even though we went to bed at 3. So today we've been hanging out with the chickens, spent half of our day at a beautiful teeny tiny river, eaten one of our chicken-friends (I refused watching him get killed), and slept the rest of the day under a big tree. Life's great.

Second hostfamily change

I'm a bit sad but mostly just disappointed that it got this way. Tuesday my IEC told me I have to change hostfamily because the grandfather in my family is sick, the house needs to be repared, and such stuff. It's sad to pack my bags and say goodbye because I really like this family but new adventures awaits. It's actually quite exciting to get to experience another familys way of living. No matter where I'll go it will be good, I'm just hoping that this time it will be for the rest of the year.

Luckily this is a happy goodbye and this change will hopefully be best for everyone. Now I just have to keep calm and wait for a couple of weeks at my IECs place until I get my new hostfamily.

Tomorrow I will go together with Sofia to her dads house in Barra Honda. It's a national park twenty minutes away from nicoya. It will be so cool.

P.S big thanks to my girls who knew I was feeling bad and came over with doughnuts. <3
